As fate would have it, several
years later Peggy met Houstonian and NHRA Pro Stock Bike owner Harry
Lartigue. Harry was looking for a new rider and gave Peggy her start
in professional racing. On her first shake down pass at Houston
Raceway Park, she ran a 7.77. After several more seven second passes
she earned her NHRA license and a ride for the 2001 season. Several
years later (2007) with George Bryce as her crew chief Peggy entered
the drag racing history books as the first minority woman ever to
win an NHRA national event. She went on to finish number four in
points in the POWERade standings.
Today Peggy is busy on the
marketing trail and looking for new sponsors, allowing her the
opportunity to complete the remainder of the 2009 Full Throttle Drag
Racing Series beginning at the U.S. Nationals. Just in the month of
May she was profiled in two magazines: Ocean Style and LATINA Style,
served as a presenter at the NASCAR Coca-Cola 600 pre-race
ceremonies, was guest speaker at Career Days at two San Antonio area
schools, and is involved on a regular basis with the GoGirlGo!
program of San |

Antonio.
