Born
December 17, 1983 in Allentown, Pennsylvania, Eric Scott Banks grew
up as one of those kids with a family who was involved in horsepower
of the genuine kind. Growing up on a farm and raising horses was the
family hobby and one that has stayed with Eric all his life. Most of
his family now lives in Kentucky and raises racing horses.
Regardless of our upbringing it’s our teenage years and the friends
we choose that usually dictate the paths we take.
When Eric was in the beginning stages of his adolescence years his
family moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma. There he started hanging out with
neighborhood kids, which turned out to be lifelong friends. They
built bicycles and models, which honed Eric’s skills of customizing
and detail work. As Eric got older he started working on old cars,
which led to his “lowrider” stage. He started going to the local
drag strip with his older sister and her friends. This all coincided
with the movie Fast and Furious, which led to Eric’s Honda/Acura
phase.
Not having much money, Eric had to buy, sell and trade parts to hop
up his cars. Weekends were spent at the track. If he wasn’t at the
track Eric was working on a car. He went to work as a tech and parts
salesman at a local import performance shop and slowly got burned
out on the import scene. Many of his friends had started switching
over to motorcycles so Eric sold nearly everything he had, including
his car, to buy his first bike. It was a huge sacrifice but one Eric
says was well worth it. From that day in 2004 Eric has built many
custom bikes and has been featured in several magazines.

The bike Eric currently
has was built to be a full show bike but as the last riding season
came up he threw it together just to ride it and it turned out to be
one of his favorite builds. Within three months of his first pass
Eric went from 10.60’s to 8.80’s on a stock motor GSXR 1000 with the
help of his friend Ben Gartner. Now that the 2011 season is over
plans are to go bigger, better and faster for next season. This was
Eric’s first year to race a motorcycle and quite an adjustment from
racing cars but he says, “To be honest, it’s a bit more of an
adrenalin rush. It gives me a feeling that words can’t even
explain.”

Eric’s goal is to
compete and start to make a name for himself within the sport. With
Eric’s drive and love for the sport, he doesn’t plan on stopping
until he gets what he wants. If it doesn’t happen at least he will
know that he gave it his all. Eric is not a quitter. He is also a
cancer survivor, which has given him a much bigger appreciation for
God, family and friends. Building and racing bikes is just icing on
the cake. See more at Game Over Built Facebook pages.
