Born
September 15, 1962 in Sardis, Mississippi, James Michael Jackson in
a way plowed his way to a life of motorcycling. His father worked at
their family-owned John Deere dealership. At the age of twelve
Mike’s dad bought him an ATC70 Honda 3-wheeler. That led to a life
of interest in ATV’s, motorcycles, CB radios and Rock & Roll. Yep,
blame it all on Honda.
When Mike was in his early twenties a friend, Cloyce Kemp, asked him
to go to an 1/8th mile drag race with him and help out. That day,
Mike was hooked and started racing 3-wheel ATV’s the next season at
local tracks. He continued racing ATV’s and streetbikes. Mike raced
3-wheelers for six years before deciding to move to streetbikes. He
converted a CB350 Honda into a dragbike then moved up to a 650
Honda. Then as quick as he got into racing Mike sold everything and
got away from racing after ten years of competition.
In 2005 after an eight-year absence Mike admitted to missing racing
and with a little persuasion his friend Cloyce once again talked him
into getting back into racing. Mike started racing once again at
local tracks and also took in the Memphis AMA/Prostar events.
Today Mike races a totally stock Z1000 Kawasaki in Street ET. Mike
said he likes it better now than ever.
