MIROCK Series – True Street Race Report
Event: MIROCK Fast by Gast Spring Bike Classic
Dates: April 19 -20, 2008
Location: Maryland International Raceway (MIR), Mechanicsville, MD
Due to inclement weather, eliminations again was postponed by rain.
After race #1, I took my bike to have it dyno’d to see where I was
losing power. After troubleshooting it came down to the bike was
possibly spinning a bearing, but it was not showing some of the typical
symptoms. After one pull on the dyno, the engine shut down. This took
place Monday before the race. It was later discovered that the oil
pick-up was not properly installed which played a major role in the bike
malfunctioning. I was not able to get the bike back together before the
race, and subsequently could not participate.
The next race will be the “MIROCK FBR Shop Bike Nationals,” May 3 - 4,
2008 at “The Rock” Rockingham Dragway, Rockingham, NC.

MIROCK Series – True Street Race Report
Event: MIROCK FBR Shop Bike Nationals
Dates: May 3 - 4, 2008
Location: “THE ROCK” Rockingham Dragway, Rockingham, NC
Race #3 of the 2008 MIROCK Series was a two for one! This event
consisted of the eliminations of Race #1 which was rained out and race
#3.
Once I was informed that the bike could be fixed, I was also made aware
of that the motorcycle encountered additional problems that was later
discovered when the motor was ready to be rebuilt. With knowledge of
current situation, I was able to obtain a naturally aspirated 2007
ZX-10R to race.
Saturday’s qualifying sessions were extremely frustrating, as I ran into
electrical problems with the borrowed bike. Pushing three rounds of
qualifying with the new bike I was only able to obtain 11th place. After
encountering the electrical problems, the owner of the bike was able to
make the bike operational but at no competition for the class.
In the first round at no surprise I lost to the #2 qualifier who went on
to win the event.
The bike is currently being assessed and rebuilt and hopefully it will
be fully operational by the next event. The next race will be the MIROCK
Fast by Gast Summer Showdown, June 7 - 8, 2008 at Maryland International
Raceway “MIR,” in Budds Creek, MD.

MIROCK Series – True Street Race Report
Event: MIROCK Spring Bike Open
Dates: March 29 -30, 2008
Location: “THE ROCK” Rockingham Dragway, Rockingham, NC
Eliminations postponed by rain.
The opening of the 2008 MIROCK Series was a cold, windy and rainy debut
of the much anticipated brand new “HTP Performance True Street” Class.
Traci tested her HPC Prepped/Carpenter Motored 2004 Kawasaki ZX-10R on
Friday, only mustering up a 9.52 at 143 mph as a best pass. Friday
evening was spent taking out the fuel and replacing it with MRX01 and
putting in a MRX01 map, but by this time the testing session was over
for the evening.
Saturday’s qualifying sessions went better but still not what was to be
expected. Hampered by problems shifting and having to deal with power
issues with the battery, she went .4 faster with a 9.11 et. Still not
quite enough to crack the top 10. Traci attempted to use the NOS on her
3rd and final qualifying pass, the bike stood up, then would not shift,
she only would run a 9.40 et.
Traci currently sits in the #13 position after three rounds of
qualifying. She will run the #5 qualifier when racing resumes in April.
Qualifying round 1
10th Traci Lewis right lane 9.19 at 151 mph
Qualifying round 2
10th Traci Lewis right lane 9.11 at 151 mph
Qualifying round 3
10th Traci Lewis right lane 9.40 at 143 mph
Sunday’s eliminations were postponed until the April race at MIR due to
the weather after one “shake down” pass by the pro categories. The rain
wouldn’t hold off. Traci plans to get her bike together and test during
this time so that she can finish out the first race, and place higher on
the qualifying list for race #2.
The next race will be the MIROCK Fast by Gast Spring Bike Classic, April
19 -20, 2008 at Maryland International Raceway “MIR,” in Budds Creek,
MD.

Traci has always had a fascination with motorcycles; ever since she was a child riding on the back of her dad’s 1977 Suzuki GS 550E. It wasn’t until 1996 that she actually got her license and started riding. While riding one summer night with some friends back in 1999 she decided to try drag racing at a local track and has been hooked on it ever since. She currently rides a 2004 Kawasaki ZX-10R. Traci races the Street ET bracket class in the 7 race MIROCK series that alternates between Maryland and North Carolina. She is a founding member of the Speed Divas Motorcycle Club, and a founding member of Killa Minx Racing, an all female drag racing team
(http://www.killaminxracing.com/index.htm). Traci has won several awards including; Midnight Madness Motorcycle at Maryland International Raceway in 2000, Fastest Girl on the Street 600-750 class at Atco Raceway in 2003, and Street ET class in the MIROCK racing series in August of 2004. In 2006, she won the Fastest Girl on the Street Challenge 1000cc class at both VMP and Atco. For the 2008 MIROCK race season Traci is in the process of building her 2004 Kawasaki to race the HTP Performance “True Street” class, and is actively seeking sponsors for parts and accessories to assist her in her quest to be a successful competitor in this new class.
Traci is a native of Washington, DC and currently resides with in Waldorf, MD. Her home track is Maryland International Raceway (MIR or Budds Creek) in Mechanicsville, MD. Traci’s hobbies include basketball, watching track & field, and any kind of racing (NHRA, IHRA, NASCAR, etc.).
